US History is a full-year survey course that will focus on the development of the United States, from its early beginnings through the conclusion of the Cold War and late 20th century history. An emphasis will be placed on the major themes in US History that created the nation, propelled it to greatness, and initiated diversity in our great melting pot society. During this class students will learn about such things as the meeting of the Old World and New World, colonization by European powers, the American Revolution, founding a republic, expansion, the Civil War, industrialization, US imperialism, depression, World War I and II, civil rights for all citizens, and the Cold War. Throughout the year, students will be challenged by projects, daily activities, group assignments, presentations, and research reports that help illustrate the uniqueness and growth of the United States of America.
